Sargent, William: - Bill Sargent earned his B.S. from the University of Vermont's School of Natural Resources where he majored in Forest Management and minored in Wildlife Management. He began his career as a forester for a small sawmill in Stamford, Vermont the day after graduating from college. Over the span of 30 years, Sargent worked for several lumber companies in Vermont, New York, and Massachusetts. Eventually he started his own forestry consulting business, working as both a consultant to private landowners and as an industrial procurement forester. In 2003, he started a log and timber marketing firm, where he was joined by his son Wes in 2005. Today they continue to market logs for loggers and private landowners in markets around the world from their log yard in Cambridge, New York. In his spare time, he enjoys creating a welcoming habitat for the many species of wildlife that share the land with him. His current project is growing a small copse of hybridized chestnut trees for animal forage to replace the native species wiped out by the chestnut blight, as well as advocating for a variety of wildlife and forestry issues in the Vermont Legislature. He is married to his wife Shari and is the father of three grown children and the grandfather of four boys.
